NATOP registers Tour Operators, to partner 7 Wonders

The  Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) at its monthly meeting, held in Lagos on Tuesday, February 28, 2012; registered tour operators in the country. Each registered member of the body also went home with a membership plaque.

Speaking at the event, NATOP President, Nkereuwem Onung, said the registration and issuance of certificate to bona fide members was part of a reorganisation of the body. Mr. Onung, who seized the opportunity to express NATOP’s endorsement of the 7 Wonders project; urged NATOP members to deploy 7 Wonders in driving their organisation’s Domestic Tourism agenda.

“NATOP members have built successful businesses selling foreign destinations and the 7 Wonders and its 9 Clusters now offer them an opportunity to become masters of Nigeria Tourism”, Onung remarked.

Stressing the significance of the NATOP Certificates handed to registered members, Onung; declared that “from now on, only registered tour operators will be allowed to operate in Nigeria. Such Tour Operators, Onung explained, must hold two credentials; one certificate each from NATOP and the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).

He further enjoined tour operators operating in Nigeria to register both with NTDC and NATOP as the emerging environment will not tolerate quacks.

Ten (10) Tour Operators, namely; Tour Brokers International, Leisure Afrique, TTL Tours, Speedy tours, Remlords Tours, ATQ Tours, Jethro Tours, Dvine Tour Brokers, Mactee Tours and Global Link Tours; received their plaques at the February, 2012 meeting.
